I unlocked the door to my suite twenty minutes later. Tristan was sitting on the sofa, talking on his phone. While I waited for him to finish, I powered on my laptop and checked the emails that Clay sent while I was working. Three more listings, three more possible houses graced my inbox and I smiled. We’re set to see five houses this weekend. One of them has to be perfect for me and Summer. I cannot keep staying in a $1500.00 per night suite, even if Aiden is footing the bill.

Tristan finished his phone call and walked across the room. He’d already flung his suit jacket over the back of one of the chairs in the living room. I’d bet money, his tie was stuffed in his overnight suitcase.

“You’re done already?” he asked.

“No. I decided to let Delilah handle it. She’s a big girl.”

“Sunny, you can admit that you just wanted to spend the night with me. I’m not going to be angry.”

I looked up at him and smiled. “I just wanted to spend the night with you.”

While I watched Tristan get acquainted with the little stovetop in the kitchenette, I had a hard time believing that he’s actually here and that he is mine. After our first date I didn’t have any expectations of him. Tristan, like all men, can talk a good game. I’ve learned not to trust the words of a man. They don’t mean half the shit they say. Tristan’s actions speak louder than any words he has ever spoken.

“What are you cooking?” I asked him. Whatever it was smelled delicious.

“You had some black bean burgers in the freezer. I thought I’d make us some dinner and we’d stay in tonight.” Tristan glanced at me anxiously. “Or do you want to go out?”

“In is fine with me. It’s not every day that my man cooks dinner for me.”

“Oh, is that what I am?” Tristan laughed. “I thought I was just some wanker you let into your hotel room to sign for your deliveries.”

“Deliveries?” I started to get excited. “They came?”

Tristan shrugged. “Something came. I don’t know if it is the ‘they’ you speak of. I put the boxes in your bedroom.”

I jumped out of my chair and ran into my room. Two large brown boxes sat in the corner. I ripped open the top box and squealed. The shoes I’ve been waiting for had finally arrived!

When Tristan came into the room carrying two plates of food and a bottle of wine, I was sitting on the floor surrounded by shoe boxes.

“Do you really need all these shoes, darling?” he asked.

“They’re not for me,” I explained. “I’m starting an online shoe store with Delilah and Daniela. These are the samples. I have to let them know that they are here.”

Tristan frowned. “Do you have to do that now? You can afford to take a couple hours off and have dinner with me, can’t you?”

Thirty pairs of designer shoes were begging for my attention. This shoe store is a big deal for us.
